Colours in the room Colours have in the furnishing of a flat or a house a very important role, since they represent the first visible impression of the room, in which we enter. The room in which we live today must offer a multiple use, serve as a home, the space where we sleep, eat… but it also serves us as an office, library, reception of guests, a small kindergarden…
Colours have the power to enliven any room, giving it energy, improve mood and enhance the spirit, They can fix the form and eliminate spatial gaps and achieve different feelings: coolness and freshness, heat and the pleasure of lightness and playfulness, drama and weight, festivity and glamour. People in places are looking for different properties, which may depend on personal taste, the type of environment in which we live and the needs that an activity should require in a certain room. Theory of colours As the basic standard colour system today »Hering's colour circle« is used. Ewald Hering (1834-1918) introduced a yellow colour as the fourth primary colour in a colour circle. As the basic visually primary colours he also included black and white. Primary colours There are four primary colours yellow, red, blue and green. By mixing of these pure colours we get secundary colours purple, turquoise, orange and leaf green. Harmonic colours By moving along a colour circle we notice harmony among neigbouring colours. Colour pallet composed of green, leaf green passing into yellow and orange, will always be successful and attractive. All these colours are from the area between green and orange colour, one to the other and therefore excellently agree with each other. Complementary colours Colours, which in a colour circle lie one contrary to the other are called complementary colours. These are contrary colours, which create tensions among themselves. Complementary colours attract each other as South and North magnet pole. Importance of light In illuminated room we are surrounded by objects and materials, which we would not see without light. The effect of colour appearance of a room depends on different light sources. By a thoughtful use of colours and light we can illuminate all dark and hidden areas in a flat, if we can not change architectural details of a room. It is always important that at planning of colour combination of individual room we consider natural and artificial light in a room. It is also very important, that you consider the position of a room – South, North, East, West side of sky. With a correct selection of colours on the North side, we can in a room (although it is cold and dark) create a warm and pleasant feeling. Illumination of rooms Light, natural and artificial creates different moods, which depend on purpose of the room. There are several illuminations of rooms: - daily illumination for work, reading, cooking, ironing ... we use strong general illumination and/or set illuminants, which have directed light – general room illumination – we use several not intensive illuminants – in the majority of rooms we can create the system of central illumination, represented by the central light or the system of ceiling and/or side lamps and additional (standing) illuminants. It is the combination of lights, which we adjust as necessary and stress the room, depending on our wishes and needs.- »mood« illumination is intended for creating certain atmosphere, which can be romantic, intimate, soft, home … such light creates ambient light that affects us on emotional basis. Harmony of colours in a room Colours influence our feelings, therefore the selection of colour shades in individual rooms is of key importance for harmonic spending of time in them. Man is able to percieve over 2000 different colour shades. Consequently, due to too large number of colour shades we have difficulty to decide about correct colour combination in the room. For these decisions we prepared unique colour card HARMONIA, by means of which you will facilitate selection of suitable colour combination in the rooms. to top
