Painting of metal surfaces

In everyday life we encounter materials such as iron, steel, zinc, copper, aluminum, wood, plastic ... they are used as integral elements of all the constructions in the home as fences, stairs, windows, doors, radiators ... If we protect them properly, we extend their life period.

The materials, which are our life escorts, we observe day after day, where we can see, especially with unprotected materials that they change their original appearance or decay under the influence of atmosphere. We can protect decay of materials or limit it with the protection. The most frequently used and economically acceptable is the protection with coatings.

For the protection of iron and steel surfaces traditional coatings are used based on long-oil alkyd binders. Protecting is long term, if the surface is protectedd with the system:of coatings: as a primer we use TESSAROL iron primer, which protects it against rust and improves the adhesion between the base and the following coatings, it is followed by top coatings such as TESSAROL enamels, which prevent access of harmful substances to the base.

Other materials such as zinc, galvanized sheets, copper, aluminum, brass, plastic, however, are known as "heavy" materials for painting, as traditional paints do not have good adhesion to the surfaces. For the protection of these areas usually systems of industrial coatings are used. At HELIOS we developed for wide consumption the primer with the name TESSAROL primer, which is made from special binder and has a good adhesion on the iron, steel, copper, brass, aluminum (requires a preliminary examination of the adhesion coating on the cleaned surface), hard PVC and the wood. TESSAROL universal primer is in white colour shade, applied by a brush, roller or spray. If necessary we thin it with TESSAROL thinner.

As top coating we apply in two coats TESSAROL enamel or TESSAROL professional enamel or TESSAROL antique or TESSAROL enamel for radiators or TESSAROL acrylic enamel. Primer dries quickly, as it is dry to touch in 2 hours, top coat may follow already after 4 hours. For long term protection and good adhesion the preparation of surface is very important.

Iron, steel surfaces

We remove rust mechanically, grease and other impurities with NITRO thinner.

Galvanized sheet metal, hard PVC
We clean surface with mixture of water (10 l), ammonium chloride (solution of ammonium chloride – 0,5 l) and detergent (one cup) and we sand it with sanding cloth made of synthetic fibres. Rests of sanding we thoroughly rinse with water. Use of wire brush and metal wool is not allowed!

Copper, aluminium substrate (preliminary test of coating's adhesion to the cleaned surface is necessary)
We clean surface with NITRO thinner and sand with sanding cloth from synthetic fibres. Use of wire brush and metal wool is not allowed!

Renovation of old coats
We clean and sand undamaged coats and we remove damaged coats completely.
Specifics:
If we remove rust with chemicals on basis of acid (phosphor) we have to rinse surface thoroughly with water, dry it and apply then TESSAROL universal primer. TESSAROL universal primer we do not recommend in the system with TESSAROL enamel for galvanized sheet metal or TESSAROL iron enamel quick drying.
